  Josh

  I arrived back at the Red Lion and parked the minibus as near as I could get to the main doorway. It would be hard to round up these drunken women as it was and somehow I had been roped into doing it again.

  Alex said he could sense a familiarity about it but I couldn’t, which led me to believe this presence was known to Alex and not me.

  As soon as I started to look around whoever it was seemed to vanish. It would have to be a vampire with that speed, but like everything with this presence, where it had been was also a mystery.

  I made my way into the pub, concerned as to what we were dealing with.

  Going straight to the bar I Indicated for Melissa my bar manager to join me.

  “Mel, have you called last orders yet?”

  Alex just growled and stood up to get Julia but I put my hand on his arm stopping him.

  “Alex, you were right, there was someone watching us. They were here outside the pub when I pulled up, but they disappeared before I could see them. We need to get everyone home and figure this out because it’s off somehow. I can’t explain it fully but it’s like it’s disguised.”

  Alex sat back down and shook his head before he looked up at me and spoke.

  “How the fuck are we going to get these out of here safely while still watching out for whoever this is?”

  Sergei looked like he was about to argue so Alex added, “Also Keeley and Julia tend to vomit when they have had a drink, but if you want to swap I have no problem with that.”

  “No,” replied Sergei, “That will not be necessary.”

  Twenty minutes later the deed was done and we were travelling on to Keeley’s home when all of a sudden Julia yelled “Stop, I’m going to be sick.”

  Within seconds I had pulled over and Alex opened the door before Julia leaned out and threw up on the grass verge.

  This in turn set Keeley off who opened up one of the back windows and vomited all over the side of the minibus.

  Sergei looked at Alex, patted him on the back and said in his heavy Russian accent, “I thought you lie tonight my friend about these women with vomit, but you did not. You are good man Alex, I respecting you because of this.”

  Alex just nodded, gritting his teeth, and I tried so hard not to laugh…but failed.

  Chapter 21

  Alex

  I walked into the bedroom with tea and toast for Julia. She’d slept for about twelve hours after being very drunk the night before and I had heard her stirring a few minutes ago.

  Holding back her hair whilst she threw up in the toilet last night hadn’t been my idea of fun, but that’s what I did. Then I put her to bed with a glass of water, two pain killers and a drop of my blood.

  She thought about this whilst eating the toast and drinking the cup of tea I had made her. I could see how confusing i

  “Should I be scared?” I didn’t want her to be scared, but she needed to be aware of any possible dangers.

  “I’m not sure at this moment to be honest Julia, but whatever I learn I will keep you informed.” I wouldn’t let anything happen to her, but I couldn’t be with her all the time.

  I sat and watched Julia as she blow dried her hair. The hairdresser had done a great job with the highlights, and as she dried you could see them more and more.
